Sure Wetta Plus reduces your water usage by up to 25%. This unique multi-purpose surfactant product will meet all your wetting agent needs at a fraction of the cost of other products. Sure Wetta Plus is suitable for use in road construction, earthworks for dust suppression and compaction, recreational parks and garden and agricultural soil wetting. Sure Wetta Plus is very cost-effective, with a cost-in-use of approximately 4.2 c/m2. Sure Wetta Plus may be used with any type of water, including rainwater, bore water and salt water. Sure Wetta is so friendly that tankers used to supply Sure Wetta Plus may also be used to cart drinking water (unlike other acid-based products).

Sure Wetta Plus is a highly active wetting agent/concentrate, for use in road construction, earth works and agricultural soil wetting.
Sure Wetta Plus is the result of intensive testing and formulating. It represents the very latest in soil wetting.
PREAMBLE
Fugitive dust is an environmental air quality term that refers to very small particles suspended in the air, the source of which is primarily the Earth’s soil. It does not include particulate matter from other common sources, such as vehicle exhaust or smokestacks. Fugitive dust particles are mainly minerals common to soil, including silicon oxides, aluminium, calcium, and iron. About half of fugitive dust particles are larger than 10 microns in diameter and settle more quickly than the smaller particles. The term is used to denote that the dust “escapes” into the atmosphere
Specific sources include open fields and parking lots, paved and unpaved roads, agricultural fields, construction sites, unenclosed storage piles, and material transfer systems.
Surface mining operations are also sources of fugitive dust as a result of many mining operations including haul roads, tailing piles, drilling, blasting, the removal of overburden and the actual mineral extraction.
THE CHALLENGES OF MAINTAINING DIRT ROADS
Research carried out in a number of countries over the years has established a pattern where a dirt road carrying just 100 vehicles per day will lose up to 20 tonnes of dust per km /annum.
This has major impact for the economy, as well as social and environmental consequences.
Continuous loss of airborne fines leads to rapid deterioration of the binding capabilities of the road base.
This leads to the development of corrugations, increasing risk to road users, reducing vehicle and tyre life and reducing driver visibility.
Air pollution is exacerbated for people living and or working close to the road.
Dust settling on vegetation and crops reduces plant health and photosynthesis.
THE SOLUTION
SURE-WETTA PLUS is a plant derivative-based binder that is easily and economically applied to various materials to
minimise the negative effects of fugitive dust on rural, urban, forest, farm and mine roads.
SURE-WETTA PLUS is also effectively used on detours and applied to base material prior to asphalt laying
Other applications include:
Road shoulders
Construction sites.
Material stockpiles
Rural/ Bush Runways
Temporary bypasses
As a wetting agent to hydrophobic agricultural soils
Paddocks / pastures
Dust-sensitive agricultural and forestry roads.as
Paddocks
HOW TO USE SURE-WETTA PLUS:
It is important to note that the road to be coated with SURE-WETTA PLUS should be well constructed – built using suitable materials, according to
correct road construction methods.
Application rates and methods can be adapted to suit most situations.
Please note: ALWAYS ADD SURE-WETTA TO WATER WHEN DILUTING
Raw materials should be selected as follows:
Road structure: well compacted base and wearing coarse layer, density
>95% MOD AASHTO. Ensure the road surface is firm, free of excessive
loose material and has sufficient camber to ensure proper lateral
drainage.
ROAD CONSTRUCTION / MAINTENANCE
Road bases/dust suppressant: dilute product at 1:2000 with water and apply via water tanker. At approx. 1 L per M2. If repeating, use in every 3rd tank load. No residual is left in tank after flushing.
AGRICULTURE
Long term agricultural soil wetting: use 220 mls of Sure Wetta per 220 litres of water and spread evenly over 1 Ha – (220 litres of solution per Ha).
ANCILLIARY
Street sweepers and fire fighting: dilute product in water at a rate of 1:2000 for improved efficiency.
HAUL ROADS
For haul roads, apply product continually at 0.01L/m2 as part of the
normal water programme until the required level of dust suppression is
achieved. After initial application Increase intervals between spraying Sure Wetta Plus by alternating it with 2 or 3 applications of water desired levels of dust suppression are achieved.
ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT Sure Wetta Plus
Roger W. Franklin PhD CSci CChem MRACI 26 June 2013
I have been provided with the formulation details for the product Sure Wetta Plus manufactured by SureKleen Products and have assessed the product with respect to its environmental impact when used in accordance with the Directions for Use.
In summary, the product is based on a complex mixture of natural products and surfactants.
The product has a very high environmental safety profile:
- the raw materials including surfactants are derived from renewable plant materials
- all the components of the formulation are readily biodegradable
- the product contains no petroleum derivatives
- there are no ingredients that could persist in the environment or that have any known potential for short, medium or long term negative environmental impact
- contains no phosphates
Biodegradability/Persistence and Mobility
The constituents of this product are classed as readily biodegradable (defined as proven to degrade by more than 70% under standard test conditions – References 1 and 2).
The ultimate products of degradation are water and carbon dioxide and trace amounts of simple inorganic salts.
This product is not likely to persist in soil or contaminate ground water.
Ecotoxicity
This product has low ecotoxicity. When diluted with water, the product rapidly degrades. Nevertheless, direct discharge of diluted product or waste directly into natural waters should be avoided. Diluted product should be disposed of through water treatment systems.
In its concentrated form, the product should be regarded as harmful to the aquatic environment and should not be discharged directly into natural waters.
Bioaccumulation
None of the constituents of this product have any potential to bioaccumulate.
